A bulky sofa?

I’m currently exploring ideas for a sofa design but haven’t quite found my angle yet. I want it to be both elegant and modular, but these elements seem to be at odds. Breaking the sofa into smaller modules tends to make it feel bulkier rather than maintaining a sleek, flat elegance. One potential solution could be reducing the cushion thickness, which might help retain a more refined look. However, this could also impact comfort—not just visually, but functionally as well.
